Sustainable Commitment

Sustainable Commitment

Ethical materials. Conscious production. Long-lasting design.

At Ferreira de Sá, sustainability is rooted in responsibility — for the materials we choose, the resources we manage, and the longevity we weave into every rug. Our approach is practical and ongoing, focused on reducing environmental impact without compromising the quality and design precision that define our work. From water treatment to the ethical selection of fibers, sustainability is present in every stage of our production.

What does sustainability mean to us?

What does sustainability mean to us?

Yarn Reuse

We optimise the use of materials to reduce waste. Surplus yarns are reused internally — from small-scale gifts made with existing stock to rugs with social purpose created from leftover materials in support of positive-impact collaborations.

Water-Based Latex

We apply a water-based adhesive in our finishing process — a cleaner, more sustainable choice.
Its composition reduces the use of harmful chemicals and VOC emissions, contributing to better air quality.

Water Management – Our Own ETARI

All water used in the production process is treated internally at our own Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (ETARI).
This system operates in a closed loop, allowing the water to be reused and ensuring that no discharge is released into the environment.

100% Made in Portugal

Every rug is designed, developed and produced in Portugal — in our own facilities. We also work with local suppliers of raw materials and components, reinforcing our commitment to local production and reducing the environmental impact of transport and outsourcing.

Longevity as a Design Value

Our rugs are made to last. Their structure, finishing and timeless aesthetics reduce the need for premature replacement — promoting a more conscious consumption cycle.
